SPRING CLEANUP 2019
The Clean County Cowboys ride again and this year they rustled up 7.5 tons of roadside debris.
The operations manager, Randy Smith, did the math: Five hundred bags at 30-32 lbs. a bag- collected contained and carried off to the Russell County Sanitation Transfer Station for transport.
People Against a Litter State designated April 18-25 Spring Cleanup week and Russell County participated county-wide through Russell County Sanitation. RCS and PALS have partnered since 2014 and the Sanitation Department has be recognized at the state level several years in a row; but this year, over 15,000 pounds of pickup busted records “litter-ally.”
Back on the road, running the routes, pickin’ cans and claiming the name, the Clean County Cowboys continue the trash-talk-every day. Branded on every truck is their PALS intent, “Don’t drop it on Alabama.”
“Our main goal is to keep Russell County clean,” said Sanitation Director Wanda Hardie. “We are very proud of our department. They all do an outstanding service for this county.”

Russell County Sanitation Offices will be closed July 4 and July 5, 2019 for the Independence Day Holiday.
PLEASE NOTE: Pickup routes for Thursday July 4, will be on Friday July 5, 2019
